West Point in Monrovia, Liberia – the poorest part of the poorest country in the world

Have you ever seen the documentary of Andy Capper “The VICE Guide to Liberia”?

I saw the movie and immediately I knew that being in Liberia I have to visit West Point – slum district, in the center of Monrovia – capital of Liberia.

Liberia is the poorest country in the world, and West Point is the poorest part of the capital. This is the a place from which few weeks ago a group of men robbed the centre of treatment of patients with Ebola, taking sheets and mattresses. The thieves were not found!

The Government of Liberia fears of an outbreak of Ebola in the capital – West Point is about 4 minutes drive from the Palace of Madame President.

Here is the poorest part of the world. Here is the place from where people prefer to get sick on Ebola than to let their children starve to death. What’s better? They have such a choice. They do not have another…
